Plasma versus LCD?

When deciding whether to opt for plasma or LCD technology, it is important to consider what you will be screening on the panel. As plasma televisions suffer from heat-generation and screen-burn of static images, LCD panels are a better choice for running long presentations or content that will show images in a static position (which may create screen-burn in plasmas). LCD panels are generally lighter and draw less power for operation, therefore generating less heat than plasma TVs.

Although plasma technology is improving screen life spans, LCDs have a longer display life than plasmas. However, plasma panels offer better colour accuracy and saturation, with deeper blacks and a better contrast ratio. In addition, there is little or no motion lag in fast moving images with plasma technology. LCD screens are typically more expensive than equivalent-sized plasma panels but offer increased image brightness over plasma.
